Sweetheart Ukulele: Similar to “Phobia Skateboard”, this assignment tasked us to use a specific random object. This time it was a ukulele and we needed to clad it to tell our story. The challenge was that we needed to select one song and could only use one object to convey the meaning of the lyrics. I enjoyed this assignment because it was a creative storytelling exercise about a story!

I decided to use the song “Diet Mountain Dew” by Lana Del Rey. This song is about a bad relationship that the protagonist doesn’t want to leave because she only sees the good and sweet side of things. I chose the classic candy “Sweethearts” to show the sweet point of view she has reflecting on her relationship through the messaging imprinted on the candy, symbolizing her naivety to keep the high.
